International Bible Day was celebrated today in Azerbaijan.
On November 23, 2023, on the initiative of the Azerbaijan Bible Society, with the support of the organization of the Christian Religious Community of Azerbaijan “Vineyard”, the International Day of the Bible was held at the Lutheran Church “Evangelical Savior”.
The event was attended by many institutions, including the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Moral Values Foundation, and the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism.

On October 20 at 18:00 at the Art Gallery located on the 4th floor of the Museum Center, on the initiative of the Azerbaijan Bible Society with the support of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, the opening of photographer Shahin Yuksal Sarkarov’s photo exhibition “The Story of the Life of Jesus Christ” took place.
Opening of the photo exhibition was on October 20 at 18:00. About 60 photos of Shahin Sarkarov are presented at the exhibition.
Before the beginning of the exhibition, the presentation of the movie “The Life of Jesus on the Footsteps of the Projectâ by director Rahman Novruzov took place.

Pentecost, also known as the Feast of Weeks or Shavuot, is an important religious observance celebrated by Christians around the world. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ. The roots of Pentecost go back to ancient Jewish traditions. Originally, it was an agricultural festival that took place seven weeks (or fifty days) after Easter and celebrated the gathering of the first fruits. But Pentecost took on a new meaning after the events described in the New Testament.
According to the Bible in the Book of Acts, after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, the disciples and other believers gathered together in Jerusalem during the Jewish festival of Pentecost. Suddenly, a sound like a gust of wind filled the place, and tongues of fire came upon everyone. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, which enabled them to communicate with the people of different nations who were in Jerusalem at that time.
Descent of the Holy Spirit: Pentecost celebrates the extraordinary outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the early Christian community. This event empowered the disciples to spread the teachings of Jesus and establish the early Church. It symbolizes the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers.
The coming of the Holy Spirit united the followers of Jesus, giving rise to a vibrant and diverse community of believers. It expresses the unity, diversity and mission of the Christian Church throughout history.
